SMA works with foreign investors who wish to become legal permanent residents through their investment, and has placed several successful candidates and secured clients’ green cards and put them on the road to U.S. citizenship through these programs. SMA brings the clients into the program, allowing the client to make an investment with good chances of making profit while simultaneously securinga greencard and legal permanent residence in the U.S. The investment is in essence an interest-free loan which is pooled with other investors’ money in order to facilitate and execute projects, which in turn create jobs in the U.S. economy.

Investors can invest in their own existing U.S. businesses to expand them, they can invest in new business franchises, or they can invest in government approved programs called regional centers, which utilize pooling arrangements. The regulations specifically allow immigrant investors to pool their investments with others seeking EB-5 status. Each investor is required to invest the applicable statutory amount. All of the new jobs created by the new commercial enterprise will be allocated among those within the pool with permanent investor visas.

The EB-5 visa allows the investors and his/her immiedate family members to live in the U.S. as permanent residents. After completion of the conditional residence period of two years and the removal of conditions, visa holders will receive regular permanent resident cards and may also apply for U.S. citizenship after 5 years of residency. The investor is not required to live in the state where the project is being realized or have any role with the implementation or execution of the project.

SMA is the exclusive representative for one very successful EB-5 program, the Capital Area Regional Center (CARC). If you want more information about the EB-5 visa and the CARC program, including a brochure with more details, please write us at info@smalawyers.com or call us at (212) 402-6885.
